Horse Project: Watercolor

So this is a brand new piece in a brand new medium for me. You will probably be seeing this horse a lot as I'm doing a personal project to try and figure out what tools and materials work for me. So as you can see, this is in watercolor, my first real attempt at this awesome stuff. I really like it, sorry for the really crappy phone photo, I'll try to scan it in later.

I'll probably do colored pencil next and later I will try it in marker, digital, regular pencil and gouache. I'm super exited! All of them will be based off of the same sketch and reference photo so that I will purely be judging the material used.

So back to this particular piece: The sketch took about two days of on and off drawing to get it perfect and I've been working on the watercolor all day so I'd say the whole thing took me about 12 hours. I really like the texture of the watercolor and I forgot to mention but I used a white gel pen for the really white parts, I think I might have gotten carried away Anyhow was tons of fun and I think everyone should do a project like this to explore new media!

I do not own the reference photo nor do I plan to make any money off of it or my work using the photo as a reference. (Hopefully I covered all the bases )
